Thank you all very much!
I am learning.
Have to take a look at that Marlin 60.
That survival gun looks great too.
Thanks for the links,I didnt realize there were so many
aftermarket mods for these things.
Are those 200 dollar barrels for the 10/22 really worth it,
or is it just cuz they look cool?
Old friend once told me while we were in the bait store,
"5% of this is for the fish,95 percent is for the fisherman!"
Maybe much of those parts fall into that category?

The add-on barrels bring a variety of options. There are ultralight weight carbon fiber and aluminum barrels (with steel rifling), there a number of length choices from 16" on up, there are number of barrel profile choices (for example .920" barrels and stocks to match) and even colors if you're into that. Most important for me was the ability to get a match quality chamber on a high quality barrel.

That said, for casual shooting the stock barrel works just fine. There are even gunsmiths that will tune the stock barrel (set back and rechamber) if you want to stay with the stock look and feel.

Probably the most important mod you can make on a 10/22 is to tune the trigger.
