I am NOT personally interested in "thick", heavy, massive longer blades.
I hear what you're saying, KG. But as you said, there is something terribly reassuring about wielding a NMFMB. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> I doubt I could resist if Dan made a CG in SR77 with a Res-C handle.
I don't know what the NMFMB is, but I have one of those monster NMF"B"M's <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />... It is a "Beast".... I don't know what is so "reassuring" about it (when did "I" say that???), but it is a beast. and very heavy.
Zombies don't stand a chance against that bad boy.
NMFBM = 29.5 ounces; .25” thick; 11.3125” blade; 17.5” oal
At a similar weight, but with WAY more power and reach, I would take the Rodent Waki over the NMFBM WITHOUT hesitation.
Rodent Waki (micarta) = 31 ounces; 0.195” thick; 17.0” blade; 27.625” oal
Further, I would take ANY of the following over the NMFBM for zombies. All are faster and more nimble in the hand (wieldy) than the NMFBM. And ALL would slice deeper and more efficiently into and "THROUGH" flesh. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />
The NMFBM is just a bludgeoning tool by comparison.
BRKT – Northwind = 20.0 ounces; 0.217” thick; 17.25” blade; 23.75” oal
BRKT - Golok = 17.5 ounces; 0.210” thick; 11.5” blade; 17.5” oal
Tramontina machete = 17.0 ounces; 0.084” thick; 17.625” blade; 22.9375” oal
Condor – El Salvador = 22.0 ounces; 3mm = 0.118” thick (mine: 0.13”) 17.9375” blade; 23.125” oal
