Yeah, I don't think I'd subject the tip on my RD6 to the same things as most of my scrappers, but I don't do much prying with the tip so it doesn't bother me. I guess I'm just saying that maybe the tip is too thin for what you will use it for, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad design. Some people like finer points for more detailed tasks.
What you might want to do is look into exchanging it for an Afghan. I know it's a slightly shorter knife, but since the tip is closer to the full height of the blade, it has a thicker tip. In other words, the closer the tip is to the center line, like on the RDs, the thinner the metal is to make the tip out of. I just looked at my Justin made Afghan and the tip is noticeably thicker than my RD6. Just a thought. Good luck on getting things worked out!
