Other than a very obtuse factory edge, I really cannot fault the KZ. I had to reprofile my HI Khukris, too. As Khuks go, the KZ is probably the toughest one of the lot. My best 12" blade chopper is not a khukri anyway. It's my convexed Ontario camp machete. I am beginning to think that this whole heavy thick knife craze has finally reached its absurd zenith. Why would I want to carry a 38 oz knife when a one pounder can do as well or better? The KZ is not as much a knife as it is an AXE! Batons? We don't need no stinking batons! Just swing that big KZ like an axe and the wood will split. One hard blow and crack!

The KZ is great for making big pieces of wood into little pieces. And it is an impressive chopper.

But so is my Ontario.

I did a lot of splitting comparisons, and I would just as soon use the lighter Gerber Camp Axe.

As for batoning, don't let anyone tell you that you can't split wood with a thin bladed machete.

Sorry for the slight hijack to your superb comparison, MM, but this way folks can see it all in one thread. Now you know why I sold my FFBM and FBM. THe KZ is next. Can't wait to get that Bushwacker. That's a knife! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.
