I was shoveling the snow in my driveway. I hear the usual noise coming from my neighbors across the street, which I ignore. I hear a little cursing, which isn't out of the ordinary. Then it gets louder and more serious. I glance over, only to find the group scattering before their own minivan driving toward them, and then crashing into a pile of snow.
I'm only slightly alarmed by the fact that one of them could have been hurt. Guess that makes me a bad neighbor. I glance through the windshield to see who was driving.
What? A baby?
Yes. A baby alone in the minivan put it in gear and drove through his family and crashed into the snow.
How? Why?
I badly wanted to know, but to know I'd have to ask, and they probably wouldn't have an explanation, so I opted to stay on my side of the street.
Everyone's lucky that pile of snow was there. Stopped the van, but gave just enough to protect the child.
