I think the removal of the top portion of the guard is a seperate issue. Some people like to place their thumb on the spine of the blade when choking up, I know I do.

And for the record, I would have preferred a steel guard. Not for batoning, but because I felt it just needed one. Sorry for beating a dead horse here. I'm more than excited about the finished product.

And yes, bravo, Dan, for working so hard to make the dogs happy.
