How does the sr-77 compare to what the swamp knives use (sr-101?)

SR77 has better shock ( impact ) resistance but loses out to SR101 on edge holding. I also believe that SR101 is slightly more resistant to corrosion.
Both, however , are good hard working carbon steels and with the heat treatment that the Busse family gives them you will not go wrong with either !!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
