They burn amazingly well. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> I tried this after I noticed how much oil resulted from crushing a walnut. A half a nut burned like a candle for between two and three minutes. Between the oil and the porous meat, it's like nature's own vaseline-soaked cotton ball. And they come in their own handy water-tight packaging!
Not good for fire starting due to the high ignition temperature of the oil (though I didn't try a ferrocerium rod on it), but once you expose it to an open flame and get it going the amount of energy in there is just amazing.
