I said it one and I will say it again. the best survival 22lr rifle I have ever used is the S&W MP15-22. yeah yeah every body will say mall ninja BUT it is a great gun. its very light, and I have had military, swat, and other great shooters try it and fall in love just holding it. it truly functions just like a AR15 and breaks down with the same push to pins and pull the bolt. every other tactical 22lr such as the colt(not even made by colt it a sub contract gun) H&K(also sub contract gun) and many other have the look but not the function. The very way its made makes very easy to clean and it fits inside my back with the lower receiver off. to shoot push gun together and push to pins and your ready to rock. It comes with 25 round mags and in a pinch you can shoot a lot of rounds quick. The mags are the easiest 22lr mags to load and they fit in ar15 30round mag pouches. some will scoff but the gun has very metal just the trigger group, bolt, and barrel, the rest is a very high quality polymer(think glock. you can give it many of the same up grades as a ar15 and it makes a great training gun because of the cheap ammo. it is a real tack driver even my sister and mom can pick it up and shoot silver dollar size holes at 25yds. I have a special magpul addition with a match barrel with the folding sights, moe grip, and moe stock. eats every ammo I try and just loves CCI.
I know 22lr is not considered a great self defense round but with 25 rounds and six mags and more on the way I wouldn't want to be on the other end of the barrel. If you have any questions just ask and I would love to answer them. I got mine though the Field and Sheild gun shop in central Ohio and have been very happy. I put a lepould mark ar 1by4 power scope on a burris ar mount and have a great gun. find one and try it!
