I own the five seven and I've been really happy with it. I would like to find an inexpensive bolt rifle chambered in the same round at some point. there was mention of savage making a rifle but I'm not sure if it ever came to market. there is a company called elite ammuntion make some nice ammo that's supposed to really take better advantage o what the caliber offers than the FNH factory 5.7x28 ammo. There stuff is also more expensive though. From what I've read it's worth the price. They would also be the goto company if 5.7x28 was to have a good hunting load.

If I didn't already have a 5.7 firearm I think I would go with .17 or .223 just because it's going to be way, way easier to find. I think the 5.7 is very capable but when you factor in the price and availability it starts to take away from the round for something like a varmint rifle. I think the round is best left to specialized, high capacity, personal defense weapons.

But if you really want 5.7x28 there is another company called Excel Arms making a couple semi auto rifle that will use 5.7x28 or 22 magnum. excelarms.com
