Yes and no. To explain a little further. A sage finish and a black finish may not be the same thickness. Also any given knife may have a little different thickness of the coating on it causing the blade to be thicker or thinner.

On a leather sheath this is a minor concern. For a kydex sheath were pressure is the main retention method it may make a difference. But minor heating of the sheeth should take care of the majority of the problem.
