Yes, but he has to start with a vision. No knife is ideal for every function...so Dan has to start with performance parameters in mind. If the 1/4" is true (I'm not certain yet, as mistakes have been made on the website before)....then I think it's safe to speculate that one of Dan's criteria was to build a TANK of a small knife. It's a great idea really. Modern day yardkeeper / howling rat.
