Gentlemen (and lurking ladies), I defy anyone to chip the SR101 blades. My Chopweiler has eaten probably more wood than my Dogfather and done so with far less deforming of the edge. When I say "less" I really mean there has been ZZERO deformation of the edge whereas the DF edge has slightly rolled in some spots after some hard abuse. The marginal "toughness" advantage to the SR-77 IMO is more hypothetical than actual in that I seriously doubt any of us will put the blades through the sorts of torture testing that would cause the 101 edge to chip or fail. If hacking through hardened oak, maple, hickory, and other assorted woods and routinely batoning through heavily knotted pine doesn't cause chipping, there ain't nothing I'm gonna ask of this blade that it can't handle. I will probably buy any and all blades Dan decides to make from that magical steel <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
