I've had Buckmarks, Ruger 22/45's, Ruger Mk2's, and Ruger Mk3's. I strongly prefer the Ruger Mk3.
Regardless, I've never had much luck with "non target" oriented 22LR handguns. The Walther P22, Sig Mosquito, HP22, J22 come to mind. They're gone and I don't miss them at all!
When people ask me to recommend a handgun for self defense it is always a Glock 19. I carry one daily, and have owned/carried Glocks for around 18 years. I've never once had a serious problem with them. The worst experience I've had is one Glock that would eject casing straight up and back (which meant they hit me in the face or head). Out of the number of Glocks I've owned (and staggering number of rounds fired through them) that one Glock was an anomaly.
