Funny thing is that Arch and I have been down the same road, kinda. I don't have all the professional classes under my belt but I have thrown a lot of lead and copper down range--enough to that I don't want to admit. After owning many rifles, pistols and shotguns I decided that this is my battery at the moment:
Para FAL
Colt 6721R AR
Savage bolt in .243 Win
Yugo SKS (getting out of lay-away this weekend)
Pre Remington Marlin 1895 in .45-70 (heavy buster)
CZ 452 in .22lr
Dan Wesson Valor 2010 1911
KelTec PMR 30 (proven itself)
S&W Model 17 in .22lr
Remington 870 shotgun in 12 ga.

I can cover many situations/needs with that battery. Now that is not all I have but that is what I would use because I am hunkering in if at all possible. Now don't get me wrong, I can take a WWII Finn Nagant or an Enfield and make it a bad day for someone if I had to, meat on the table if nothing else.
