I've found some of my knives require some use and a few sharpening's before they settle down and hold an edge. I suspect your 411 will be like that. Keep us posted.
I also have had the same experience. When I first started using my 311 it would not hold an edge worth a darn. I was actually pretty disappointed. After around three good sharpenings with diamond stones it now holds a great edge.
I now have the 411 and love it but the factory edge did not last long while whittling wood and I have as of now sharpened it only once. I haven't used it again yet, but I suspect it will be the same situation as the 311. After a couple of good sharpening it will get down to the "good" metal and begin holding a sharp edge for a lot longer time.
