most 10/22s should still be legal regardless of a ban. a stock 10/22 doesn't have a pistol grip, threaded barrel, or muzzle device, or anything evil does it? since they only ship with 10 round mags it's the magazines you would have to be after. and i've seen the hotlips mags listed at a few places for about $10 more than usual.
Well, the only reason I want to buy one is to convert it into something that would be considered evil after a hypothetical ban. So unless it is specifically allowed in any configuration, the one I want would still be banned.
Also I think there is some language in the proposed ban which would ban any semi auto rifle
capable of accepting magazines with more than 10 rounds. That would be an evil feature, which a 10/22 clearly falls under. The devil is in the details.
