I'm with you on this, not sure what would make me choose the 1111 over the 1311. I guess maybe as a pure survival tool as the edge geometry would be stronger. The trade off is that the thicker edge geometry is a hinderance for most other applications.


I think that we tend to forget that many of the "Survival Blades" of the Frontier days of this country were most of the time nothing more than Butcher knives. KITCHEN knives if you will.
