The QC Granules require surgical removal, but if it means the difference between bleeding out or needing to find a vet (animal doctor...) after the fact...

The 550 laces is a good tip. I picked that one up from Mike Hawk's book.

+1000 on socks. Foot powder is good if you need it, but clean dry socks (enough to rotate two pair on your pack for dry out) is the difference between being happy and miserable.

The P51 is better (bigger) but a little harder to come by for some reason?
