I have an old knife I got in the Philippines that is made from leaf spring steel. EVERY time it started rusting I would just start jabbing it into the ground until the rust surface rust was gone. I did it so much that now it won't hardly rust at all. Or if it does it's a piece of cake to remove. I never bother wiping down my blades with oil (my using knives that is) and rust isn't an issue to me.
