this cooler is pretty awesome. my folks fridge dieda few days before christmas so I took it over there. still had half of the same 10lb bag of ice after 3 days. my aunt shows up and needs to keep some frozen stuff on ice to back take home to alabama. more than enough space. had 3/4 of that bag of ice still there 3 days later and the stuff was still frozen solid. my aunt took my cooler so I had to go buy another one and picked up one for my folks. if you don't have a good cooler I think this would make a good option. coleman 62 quart 5 day for $25. i was planning to spend $40 on the 48 quart version with better handles and wheels but this will work. just need a limit or two of fish or some deer meat now.

Got some Celox and some trauma bandages. With the boys hunting with me more, I want to be prepared for ANYTHING.

I got a bunch of freeze dried beverage one serving pouches, you wouldn't believe how much better they can make life seem.

This thread hasn't seen the light of day for awhile...
I ordered a couple of life-straws last night. Beefing up the water situation is so needed- but so easy to ignore too! Just not as sexy as ammo, firearms and other toys I guess.

Its far more important than guns and ammo.

"Preppers" seem obsessed with bullets but never think about beans, bandaids, and water.
As a non-Prepper my entire life focus is on my stomach...I have to eat even if the ...zombies... (that was for you Spider Pig) don't rise.
I have to drink or I'll die.
Guns are important, and as a liberal you might disagree, but I think every able bodied American should own one (or more). However, once a person has his basic defensive needs covered ... its time to consider "everything else".

Prepping is about MUCH more than firearms/ammo alone. You need to cover the basics of water, fire, shelter, first-aid, and food first. Depending on where you live, firearms can provide food and protection if/when needed.

I remember Jeff Randall posting something a few years ago about talking with people with the latest/greatest AR and 10k in ammo and he would ask if they had any type of water stored or a filter system and be told "no". You could tell he was just shaking his head.
Rule of 3's baby!
That all being said, water is my weak point too and I need a couple more 5 gallon containers.

Rich,
You might consider building a "Mobile rain water collection system". Basically a system that you build, dissemble and store in the garage until a "rainy day" (pun intended).
They're simple to construct and can even have filtration built in.

YUP, I remember that my Grandma and Grandpa had a "Cistern" at their house. Rainwater ran off the "Tin" roof and into the cistern. No one back then of course thought anything about filtering their water. Oh wait, it DID have several layers of screen to filter out the big stuff and the bugs. Great tasting water too.

A cheap filter can be built out of three (food grade) 5 gallon buckets, 53 gravel, sterilized "play ground" sand, and charcoal you make yourself.
The water will taste as sweet and clean as any you've tasted.
