Did some more thinking. I COULD always take off the two GI canteens from the web belt and just downsize to one. Then I would be able to build up a belt order (Yeah I know, I just haven't done it).

1. The 1qt canteen
2. 5 inch knife of some kind, S5 or Wardog probably, although the Mud Mutt is DEFINITELY in the running.
2. About 25 ft of Para cord.
3. Small FAK
4. Sturdy folder
5. Small "Survival Straw"
6. Small pack of wet wipes. grin
7. And MAYBE one of those cheap plastic ponchos.
8. Oh yeah and a couple "Protein bars".

Then to see how much "Space" all this stuff takes up. Although the FAK, survival straw and folder and maybe even the para cord could all fit into one manageable size pouch.

PAYDIRT! I found a bag that will work out VERY well to house my Sawyer Mini filter and associated gadgets. PLUS I found some stuff I had forgotten I had.

1. My original Leatherman from the Air Force days.
2. 300 ft spool of "trot" line
3. Generator powered led light.
4. Emergency candles in a can.
5. A nice little small (1 inch blade "SNITCH" fixed blade) knife by Randall King Knives.
6. P38 can opener.
7. Spool of steel "Jewlery" wire.
8. Box of 20 Hand sanitizer wipes.
9. Box of assorted band aids/gauze pads and a tube of antibiotic ointment.

Randy,
Try to find a P51 can opener to replace your P38. Its larger, and much easier to use.

Half Liter bottles. Not bad. I carry one about that size to work every night filled with tea or Early Sunrise orange flavored drink.

I figured they would work for heating up a stew or soup as well.

That's a nice score. I carry a 32oz Nalgene around with me everywhere I go. I use to have a "pea green" Nalgene but people kept telling me it looked like a specimen bottle so I switched to red.

I've not tried many of the stainless bottles, but know they have a strong following.

Personally I prefer stainless. I have dropped mine so many times and it has only got one small dent in in it. Plastic, to me, just seems to fragile specially after experiencing SS. As the Commercial said, "Try it you'll like it". grin
