Got a 100 ft roll of that.

Arch, knowing the Drago tracker is 600D and 1800 Cubic inches and the FalconII at about 1400 and the Vulture II the same, what do you think should be 1,2,3 on the list?

Here is what I would USUALLY be carrying. If needed I could always add that butt pack I got from you.

Water, 2 lit PLUS at least 72oz bladder, maybe 100oz.
Ponchos when it looks like it might rain
2 All weather space blankets
550 (mil spec)cord
compass
whistle
Head lamp, about 1x4 inches
STURDY folder (GTI folder)
pair of gloves
FAK
Small spool (think small fishing line size spool)
Snack items of some sort.

On other lists I WAY (I think) over thought what I should carry for a usually no more than 2-2.5 mile hike.

As have I.

I've advised to spread the gear because regardless of planning you might get separated. I've suggested: 3L hydro carrier, compass, lighter, fire steel, knife, whistle. Everything in pockets except hydro.

Oh yeah, I agree. I would always have my jetstream light with strobe function in my pocket and a good lockblade knife. I would also have my "Altoids tin" fak. I would also have a fixed blade of 5-7 inches on my belt. And I could always put the pack FAK on my belt if I needed/wanted to.

I have a dedicated 2 lit Hydration bladder with a small pouch on it that she could carry, but I didn't want to burden her down to much as a lot of the time she will be carrying her DSLR/300mm lens and a smaller point and shoot camera.

Quoted For Truth.

It's amazing what you'll add because you have room. I like a pack sized for your PREPLANNED gear list (keeps down gear creep) plus a little extra to stuff in a fleece jacket and polypros...which end up getting shed as you heat up.

That's my thinking, but I didn't want to run out of room before I had all "The Essentials".

I sent them an email asking what kind and weight material that pack is made of. I think I would work out nicely size wise. I'll just have to wait and see.

OK, it looks like it's gonna be between the Maxped Condor II ( I really like the shape of that pack) it will be big enough to meet my needs without being so big I will carry WAY more than I need to, and the SOURCE Tactical Gear Assault pack. Comes with a 3L bladder in the pack. IF it is made of sturdy enough material I might well get that one instead of the Maxped. We'll see.

I have been carrying a Condor II for years. It can take a beating. It isn't the lightest pack I have used, but it is the most reliable. I used it during a few training exercises as well. I was even dragged about 50 yards, after becoming a mock casualty, by the handle on top of the pack. No signs of failing yet.
