GD, I have the Ruger Convertible 357/9mm and really like it a lot. Those guns are built like tanks!

This is an old thread, but I'll comment...

I've had a couple of convertible Single Six handguns. They were fairly accurate, but heavy and slow to reload. I also don't think you'd reap enough benefit from the 22 WMR cylinder in a handgun barrel length. It needs a little more to generate enough velocity to warrant the very high cost of ammo.

(I'm a 22WMR fan, BTW).

I really like Ruger Mk2 semi-autos. The Mk3 is the current offering, and is completely suitable but you might want to replace the plastic loaded chamber indicator with an aftermarket metal "blank".

Almost everything Ruger builds is "overbuilt" with the possible exception of the polymer frame handguns.

They do use a crapton of investment cast parts in their guns. (They also investment cast parts for a lot of other manufacturers). Anyway, I broke the hammer on a Vaquero 44Mag after about 100 rounds. The dealer (largest in the state where the gun was bought) said he had never had one break (and he has 7000 guns IN STOCK).

I can't recommend the GC678 (slabside 6-7/8" barrel "Competition Target") line enough. They're boringly accurate.

ETA: No comment on the Mk3 version though. No hands on experience. However, many many many thousands of rounds through several of the Mk2 versions.

mkIII 22/45 with all the replacement gizmos from Tandemkross is one heckuva fun gun. So is the Single Six. Glad to have 'em both!

That's the model that I have, the Slabside Competition Target gun. I love it. It's much more accurate than I am, and I'm a pretty fair shot.
