Well while we were at Wally World I took a side trip down the sporting goods section. I'm glad I did. I got an Ozark Trail head lamp. As it sets in the "Housing" it looks like a small aluminum (with tailcap click switch) flashlight taking 3aaa batteries. BUT you can rotate the head and it turns into a conventional straight flashlight! PLUS the "Housing" tilts forward allowing you to adjust where the beam goes to an extent.
  It has 3 modes. 1. High-220 lumens for 1 hour 2. Low -22 lumens for 10 hours 3. SOS-high mode
I already have the conventional 2D cell with 500 and 100 lumen modes and actually like it(for a more floody beam without any dark spots).
If you're looking for a pretty good set of lights, check out the Ozark Trail flashlights, I'm well pleased, plus they have a pretty good run time and so far the 2D has been pretty robust. I would actually take it over the Maglight I have which I think is pretty anemic.

Here a while back, maybe a month before I got the 2D Ozark Trail light I thought I needed a good rugged led flashlight so I got a 2D led Maglight. Boy was that a mistake. Don't get me wrong, they're still good lights, and it will throw a spot a fair ways, but after checking "the specs", it's only listed at 184 lumens! WAY less than the Ozark Trail, and in a side by side test it shows. Oh well, live and learn. I seldom use the Maglight unless I need to look a ways off, which isn't very often.

Yes maglight has really fallen off in the last 5 years or so, I like Fenix lights they are a bit more but I have been using one daily for almost 2 years now and it still works fantastic. http://www.amazon.com/FENIX-TK15S2B...15963&sr=8-1&keywords=fenix+tk15That is the one I use.

I have been edc a Jetstream 1xaa for about 3 years now and it has served me well. 4 modes:
  1. High 2. Medium 3. Low 4. Strobe (for signaling if needed)
I find myself using it for something almost every single day.

I love the low settings for count, more than enough light to see the inmates clearly but not enough to jar them awake so I have to deal with them any more than necessary. lol Medium and High come in handy when doing area searches or for searching tight corners ect. I don't think I could go back to a just on off light anymore. Although I do keep one of the Ozark trails in my glove box of my truck and it has served me well.

My new ozark trail headlamp has high and low, 220 and 22 lumen. PLUS it has S-0-S mode. It's pretty nice I think, and I like the swivel head that lets it go from an angle light (the headlamp part) or a conventional straight tube light.

It's supposed to burn for an hour on high and 10 on low. SOS is high power.
