Okay, okay. Keep drinking what you like. I did not say that it was an easy challenge to open the beer. I know a hundred items that are better for such task. The problem is that the catch is rounded away from the spine. If it would be a real hook (with a point towards the spine) it would find grip under the crown cap and it would be easy to lift the cap.
I needed 4 - 5 attempts on my first try and also the same on the second bottle . But it works.
BTW: I don´t think any of you need advice how to open their beer, right ?

Opening beers. Isn't that what Boy Scout and Swiss Army knives are for?

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Yep' - a Boy Scout with a Swiss Army Knife could do it!

Or a Swiss Army guy with a Boy Scout knife. Maybe not, though. The Boy Scouts have adult leaders.

I was thinking to modify it (the HooK) with a drill bit slightly larger than the hook cutout to put that claw/edge under the hook, that might work to open caps with! course it would take off the coating around the drilled part. I'd use safety stuff and firmly clamp down the knife (with padded clamps) first so it won't move any.

Yesterday I got a "Sorry, missed you .." notice from the post office but today was the day: I recieved my SY Hook.
On May 1st I got the shipping notice and only one week later it´s here. That´s incredible fast from Texas to Germany.
My first impression was: WOW! What a knife! The handling is optimal for my hands and arm length. The blade catch is a very good thumb ramp. I love it. The blade came shaving sharp.
So I´m very pleased. Thanks to Patti, Dan and the rest of the Scrap Yard crew. I am totally satisfied with the complete package (the order, the nice emails and of course the knife!) Thanks.
Ok, and now what you all suffer for:

BTW: The bottle opener works
Greetings from Germany to all the dogs out there
Dilan

Good news.

Thanks for the kind words

Enjoy

Dan

I made a mistake with my hook. I let my nephew talk me out of it when I had a few too many beers.

Mistake, but he absolutely loves it.

When you absolutely can't stand it anymore and have to have another one, let me know.

I hope that all those who missed out on the Yards, Hooks, and S6's saw Dan's posting about Friday - they get a second chance!
