That would be the idea. The only purpose of the thread would be to let people know that you're interested in trading or selling a Scrap Yard knife or knives. From that point on, all negotiations would take place off the forum. Listing prices or trade values in the thread would be strictly prohibited.

That woul'd be very cool! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> Im down!!!

And if someone had a SS-4 that they wanted to sell to Prince of Peace they could send him a Private Message and then he could give it to his wife to follow up on for Fathers Day. Like that right BLD552? And nobody's sales or feelings would get hurt in the process.. I see. I don't know how fair that still would be to our own Father...Dan. His forum, his blades, his family's lively-hood, food off HIS table from his own forum. That gives me a crumby feeling inside.
As much as I want that knife, I would NEVER want to come by it as a loss of income to the man who takes such good care of all of us.
I don't know about the whole sticky wicket. Nice idea to be sure, but it does have a down side that hurts my tummy when I think about it.
I'd rather pay E-Bay and know I didn't take a dime off Dans dinner table.
Just my true feelings here.

Love you all,
Peace.

I see PoP's point.

I too would like it where Dogs can get first crack at some blades.

..I wouldn't mind seeing a private trade forum, but at the same time, I don't want to undercut Dan's sales. I can already tell you that I wouldn't be trading anything off though - at least none of my Scrapyards - but I sure would trade FOR some new Scrappers!!
Would be interesting to see where this thread goes.

we wouldn't be Undercutting Dan though.. more like Overcutting! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
If anything it would Promote more new folks to join the Yard to get in on the lower "release" pricing. Would give fellow Dogs here a good way to trade with each other and not get taken by Ebay, etc.

The SR-77 doesn't "run out".. it merely gets passed around <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Some other ideas might be..
-put "Stuff For Sale" link in our signature lines (dunno how Dan would feel bout that either)
-i HATE Ebay! too many scammers/idiots on there. their fees suck too.
-Bladeforums Exchange.. $25/yr. But I don't sell enough knives/year though.
-would really be nice to see something here on ScrapYard forum.. there's already lots of trust built up among members here. you can't buy trust like that.

Anyways.. cheers!

Tony - there is a lot of trust here on this forum. Its pretty amazing actually. I've bought for people and shipped prior to payment, people have bought for me and shipped prior to payment, certain sheathmakers here have sent me stuff prior to payment - and I don't know of anyone that has gottened burned. Great people here.

if you want to trade, you can use the Bladeforums exchange.

You can dictate whatever terms you wish, including restricting trades to scrapyard forumites or even specify number of posts minimums.

I don't think there should be Sales or trading on this forum.

Heeeey, you're a JYD now - congrats! I haven't been around much this week.

I think that restricting sales/trades to Scrapyard forumites would look very elitist over at BF and kind of paint the yard negatively, if you know what I'm saying...

Thanks! just got it last night.

It is done all the time, even restricting sales to gold members only sometimes. You could say, first dibs to Scrapyard forumites, and after a week open to the general population. At worst, it might bring some new members into the fold, and that is never a bad thing.

Why not have a seperate for sale or trade section on this forum the same as on the Bladeforums site ?
