Why not have a seperate for sale or trade section on this forum the same as on the Bladeforums site ?

It'd undercut Dan's business - I don't think it would be appropriate unless it was very limited, as BLD was suggesting...

FWIW, some people just don't want to conduct business on Bladeforums. Nor should they have to AFAIC. And would you force the sheath makers to announce that they have sheaths for Scrap Yard knives on Bladeforums instead of right here?

I bought my CGFBM there, but thats it. I do have a basic $10 membership, but don't see myself upgrading to Gold in order to sell stuff.

Making a sale forum here would:

Be a huge hassle for the Administration

Require a laundry list of rules and many Mods.

Bring in lots of undesirables (people just coming to buy and sell, not participate)

Spammers.

Clutter.

Possible legal issues.

Why would it undercut Dan ? All his blades would still sell as they always do it would just help us here to " keep it in the family " when it came to them exchanging hands !!!

There are other forums which do not require a paid subscription to sell.

I have a Platinum membership, because I want to support the forum. Spark runs it at a loss, and still keeps it ad-free. That is worth supporting. I maybe sell once or twice a year.

sheathmakers are a gray area. They also have a history of being allowed to basically advertise their wares on all the Busse Co. sites. Makes sense, when the companies don't make sheaths, and only offer very basic models.

How about if a percentage cut was taken by Dan for each sale through his forum, or am I making it a little complicated now ?

Hmmmmm. Your points appear to me to be full of sound and fury signifying nothing. But the one thing I'll give you is that it might mean a greater level of diligence on the part of the Mods. On the other hand, the Dogs have proven to be pretty darn capable of policing themselves. So even that point may be moot.

you might want to work on your comprehension skills.

Yes. But again if one group can advertise the existence of their wares without actually SELLING ANYTHING, why can't another group advertise the existence of their wares using exactly the same methodology?

I really think we're making a mountain out of a molehill here. All I'm proposing is that we be allowed to give each other a heads-up when we're ready to buy, sell or trade out of production Scrap Yard knives. People can make more out of that than it is if they want to, but it seems like a pretty simple request to me.

Make a Coalition of Dogs, a "trader's union". Exchange emails, and when one of them wants to offer a trade, send it to that group of people. Easier than a sale forum, it could be accomplished in one thread asking for people to join in the group.

Not bad, Rat. But that would require a whole lot more overhead than simply putting up a post saying, "Hey, I've got an SS4 I'd like to trade or sell. PM me or e-mail me if you're interested".

Yea that! This would work! can anyone say Kiss? "Keep it super simple" or " Keep it simple stupid!!!"

Don't hate! praticapate!!!
