nah.. stay away from any Desert Eagles.. they Jam more then they go Bang!
junk.

Really? do you have one? or a buddy with one? I honestly don't know a thing about them execpt they are FRECKING HUGE and look delightfuly evil.

I had the 44mag and it would jam if it was not perfectly cleaned...which is not a big deal. The problem I had with it was its miserable accuracy. I am good with most guns but this thing never hit the same place (area) twice...very sad regardless of load.

I fired a new 50AE at a fatory rep show and the rep told me to hold it with a death grip or it would not cycle. Sure enough it failed to return to battery on the first round. He was not kidding about the grip and to add to it it had a FTE on the last round I smilled and thanked him.

Neadless to say I was not impressed <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />

This test was what made me decide to by a Glock.

It's way more than I will put any gun through.

Arizona issues a Concealed Weapons Permit and it's not tied to a specific weapon, although you do fill out the type of weapon that you are qualifying with on your paperwork. One can conceal a 12 guage, a long sword , both or any other legal weapons (like a Scrap Yard fixed blade like I do) once a valid ccw permit is in your posession including fixed blade knives.

Since you have great suggestions so far on name brands and since firearms are a pretty personal thing, my advice would be to purchase whatever you have the most experience shooting and are the most likely to shoot for training purchases. The amount of ammo available in a revolver would not be a limiting factor in my decision to get one for ccw carry or not. I have trained with some folks who are as functional with a revolver as I am with an auto from a reloading standpoint.

More important than the tool is training. The training one recieves in a CCW course if like reading only the table of contents of a book. There is so much important "stuff" that is glossed over beause of time constraints. GunSite is up near Prescott and it's a good school to further your training.

Thoughts on method of carry. I have found SOB carry is uncomfortable. In certain positions like supine prone, it's painful. Whatever method of carry you choose, train using that method of carry. I have seen many students who train OWB and then carry IWB fumble when they are forced to train in street clothes and loose all of the tactical mumbo jumbo black gear.

If you ever want to do any self defense training or just punch some paper, you are welcome to come down to the valley and we can get a private range at Ben Avery, just pm me. My friends firearms school just stopped offering courses to the public this year, but my group still trains every 2 weeks at Ben Avery or out in the desert. You are welcome to join me or my group on a private range as a guest of mine anytime free of charge.

I dig my KT p32 good little summertime gun, but I carry my G27 the rest of the time light, .40, extra mag and the KT is point and shoot simple and if a round dosn't go off it is DAO so just pull the trigger again! The only problem I have had with the p32 is if it is in my back pocket and I sit down I tend to release the mag by sitting, that might be because I don't use a holster.

There is no perfect carry gun for everyone. They are all comprimises of one trait over another. Decide what is important to you...

Here i in Wa. we just have a CCW no weapons just any pistol you choose or 2 or 3 or 4 you get the picture. Only guns and the other thing is NO training. Scary huh! I shoot all the time but there are many who carry that don't.

Loved the glock test. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

I use a Kel-Tec P3AT. It will hit consistently in a small plate size area at 7 yards. Plenty accurate for the job. Remember what a District Attorney may be thinking. Any shooting done beyond that range, and he may claim you could have escaped, and you may be on the hook. Just something to keep in mind. I had no malfunctions through a 50 round box. Kel-Tec makes a clip that you can attach that is much like the pocket clips on a folding knife. Slip it inside the waistband, and it disappears.
