I'm just wondering, has anyone found the ideal usage for the DM. I've used mine to dismantle huge cardboard boxes, it cut well but the blade thickness slowed it down some. I used it to dig weeds out of the garden, works fine but not the ideal tool for the job. It splits kindling great but if you're using a chopper to cut the wood why not just use the same knife to split it. I've pounded it through a couple of SS screws with minimal damage, slight roll and chip on the edge, a few minutes on the Arkansas stones and sharp as hell again. However that was just an edge test, can't see anyone using their knife for that on a regular basis. It throws well in an underhand swing letting the knife slide out off the palm. If you whip it properly the knife comes out at amazing speed and sinks well at close distance. It has good mass. In self defence this could be effective at close quarters with the lower abdomen and groin area as a target. Once again, I can't see anyone using their knife for that on a regular basis. So what do other DM owners use it for?

its an off/on EDC for me, so any and every little chore that comes up. Three days ago it proved itself to be a great roofing tool, and kicked butt at removing old boards (stab down in between, pry up) this morning it spread peanut butter and jelly on my toast. I tried to break down boxes yesterday with her, but the drag made it a mismatched tool, so i went with my Hunter Orange Warden, at .140" she is great at that...

I think you have both hit the nail on the head, the Dumpster is a jack of all trades and master of none which is exactly what you want for an EDC Survival knife !!!

I wear it in the woods as it is small and works on whatever comes her way, as long as I do not have to chop it down. Pitman said it best... Jack of all trades and so forth.

That DM is by far the Best ....big little knife I have...or is it a little big knife......but I find it handles just about everything that knives in the 3"-7" groups handle with ease. I have actually sold off a few EDCs because of it.....it replaced them so well and fills so many spots.

I love that little Mutt!

Mine has worked very well for utlity chores around the house and yard. Did some roofing stuff, trimming shrubs and cutting open stuff in the garage. It's a whole lot in a small package.
