I'm not sure if this deserves it's own thread since there aren't many of us running 20 gauge 870s for home defense, but Mesa Tactical has an adapter that allows us to put 12 gauge stocks on 20 gauge receivers. I'm very excited about this. I just need to decide if I'm going to get the Mesa Tactical Urbino Stock or the Magpul SGA Stock. http://mesatactical.com/lucy-adapter-for-20-ga-remington-870-shotguns/

I thought so. I've thought about buying a 12 gauge stock and then MAKING it fit my 20 gauge, but I never had the guts to potentially ruin the stock if it didn't work. This opens up alot more options.
I really like the Urbino stock, but I'm leaning more toward the SGA because it will make it easier to manipulate the slide release. I want things to be as simple as possible during a crisis situation.

Adam, what a lot of folks who haven't done any research or real world hunting don't realize is that a 12 isn't really necessary. Yeah the extra payload is nice, but at IN HOUSE ranges it isn't needed! I guarantee you that at house ranges it won't matter if you are shot by 7/8 ounce of shot 1 or 1 1/4 ounce. I don't know if you remember or not, but my two new "Tactical" shotguns, the Weatherby PA and SA 459TR shotguns are both in 20.

My go to shotgun for in house work would be the 20ga 870 express sitting in my room.

Yes, I agree that 12 gauge won't offer any benefits over a 20 gauge inside the house. That was part of the reason I sold my house 12 gauge and bought the 20 gauge tactical I now have. The other reason is I wanted my wife to be able to handle it without flinching. I've upgraded a few parts so that it has all the Police internal parts (thanks for the help, VANCE).

now there is a HD shotgun if I do say so myself and it only comes in 12g so that's what I got. LOL

Well, you Girly men should use your 20 gauge if you can't handle a 12. I have never seen a military shotgun in 20 gauge so I'll stay with my 12 gauge Rem 870 and Mossberg 590

Haha, don't have a problem with the 12ga, but my ole bones like the softer recoil of the 20. PLUS I've never needed a 12 for anything I've hunted. I think that one reason the 12 is so prevalent for HD over the 20 is that you can find a lot more loadings/specialty ammo for the 12. I've read that a lot of larger departments are going to the 20 for women and smaller statured men and not having any problems.
