OK, here is my three picks for My XDs in 45acp, 4 inch barrel at the muzzle. 1. Hornady 230gr +p sku9096 950 fps 461 ft-lb 2. Hornady 220gr +p sku 90926 975 fps 464 ft-lb Critical Duty ammo with flexlock polymer tip. 3. Hornady 200gr +p sku9112 1055 fps 494 ft-lb

Which one would you pick, and why?
OK, now let's hear YOUR pick in handgun, rifle or shotgun or any combination there of.

Hornady is great, though just a bit pricey. I'm not afraid to use Remington, Winchester, or Federal. I have also had good luck with Magtech, Fiocchi, and Samson/IMI.

I've found the Hornady for $15.25 per box of 20.

I USED to use Corbon exclusively when I was a road officer. The load I used had the Speer "Flying ashtray" 200gr hollowpoing at 1000 plus fps.

Well I'll be. Just found this out.
Most of Fiocchi ammunition is loaded at their plant in Ozark, Missouri.

Most departments here in Ohio and officers I know carry federal hydro shocks. I'm carrying hornady critical duty for my .40

I've got a box of Hydro shocks left and a half box (25 rounds) of Critical duty.

A 40! Oh for crying... oh wait. I forgot you're still a young one and can't handle the mighty 45 yet.

I would take the second one, but only because I like to run ammo that has that polymer tip/ball.
My personal choice is Glaser Safety Slugs. PRICY!

I can't handle the recoil of a .40. The plate in my wrist just doesn't agree with that sharp recoil. To me, .45acp is a pussycat compared to .40 in terms of recoil. I'd rather shoot full house .44mags all day than a .40.
