338 seemed like a great idea on paper, but I'm wary of cartridges that only one manufacturer makes a round for. Almost pulled the trigger on one (so to speak), but never regretted not doing so. As you can tell, I have nothing constructive to add here At least if you go with the 338 federal you will always have a source for brass

Want flat and long shooting with a great ballistic coefficient? Get something chambered in 25-06 117-120 grains will drop em in their tracks at 2-300 yards every time. My mom bought my dad a .257 wby mag back in 1981. It does pretty good.

Speaking for myself and the areas I hunt in, my 308 suits me fine Other than moose anything from a 243 up would work for me I still do most of my moose hunting with my 308 but up north I will use my 338 winmag And I find my 450 marlin nice as a camp gun up north

Picked up my complete lower today, I'm really pleased with it. Got it from Palmetto State Armory assembled for about $150.
It was sold as a blem but I can't find a blemish on it. My FFL said it has about $70 worth of Magpul furniture as well.
Now to shop the deals on uppers. I'm looking specifically for a pencil barrel 16 inch A2 upper. I may have a hard time finding that one.
