Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome and the sage advice on mean street vs scrapper 4. I got a scrapper 4 off e-bay in INFI and I'm gonna try but as you've said the handle looks too long and bulky. So first I'll (gasp) perform knife desecration and lop off an inch. If that doesn't work I'll remove the handle and replace it with a Fred Perrin mean street style in carbon fiber at about 4" of handle. Any comments or suggestions welcome.

Pretty ambitious - good luck! I'm not very good with stuff like that. I'd love to see some pix though when you're done!

Welcome Hatch to the Yard. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
I believe that you should leave it as it was. That is my suggestion.
I am really head over heels about the way it looks. And I know I could never do a thing to change the way Dan did it.
Good luck with your choice.
Peace.

I would probably leave the SS4 as is and pick up a different knife that met the needs for the perfect handle. It's also a great excuse to buy another knife. But if you do hack it up, pics would be interesting.

What small knife would be half as good as a SS4 (excluding Busse warden etc)??

I EDC my SS4 and I like the big handle. It makes for a very secure grip.
