Dogs

What I'm about to say may upset a bunch of customers and make them angry with me. For that I apologize.

When I started this company, it was fun and exciting. I could not wait to dive into the next dumpster, find cool steel, design a knife, and sell them at prices that would make a military man blush. A large number of you Dogs had as much fun as I did by setting a standard with home grown testing, creating forum envy, and building a place on the web we could call home. We relish the friendships that developed and are as solid as the steel we love.

Somewhere along the line, however, mostly driven by the huge demand that we still enjoy today, things got predictable. We introduced standard models in order to meet the demand and to streamline production.

Standard models? I never liked the idea. It has, admittedly, streamlined production and we are finally catching up with the demand.

But where is the fun? For me, the best part of this venture was lost.

So, in a move that many will not agree with, I have decided to travel back in time…Think of it as a trip back in a Hot Dumpster Time Machine!

Together we will go back in time to where it all started. Offering knives made of great steel taken from its rest that its owner dejected and abandoned. Building knives that set the “Performance to Price Ratio” on its head and offering a warranty that even makes Boss Hog proud.

So, say good bye to the current “always available” models. When they are gone, they’re gone. They may come back some day or maybe not… we’ll see what moves us.

But for now, it's time again to say hello to knives made in small batches that match the depth of the dive and offer a price that will leave you deciding on gas for the car or acquiring steel that you can’t live without.

So, I come to you humbled and apologetic and invite you to join me in this time travel.

We will have fun as we did in the past and live by a new-old-rule...have MORE FUN than ever.

Long Live The Brotherhood Of The Yard

See you at the Sip-N-Talk tonight

Dan

No more standard models! The world is going to end as we know it. We can no longer save our money for years to buy the knife we want.

So, what's the big deal. Sure having something available was nice, but as you said, it sort of stagnated the design side of the house. YOU lasted for years without "In store blades" and I don't see any reason that can't once again flourish.

In other words, GOPHER IT! This "Return" may in actuality result in MORE models being released.

Now about that yard version of the Anorexic B4... wink smile

AND in case I got lost in my trying to be clever, I'M WITH YOU!

I always enjoyed the old business model. Except that when you found one that rose above the rest and wanted more they had become a unicorn.

I can live with that.

I wasn't here for those days but I have seen pictures of some pretty sweet looking models. You need to do what you feel is best. This is your baby. We are just along for the ride.
