No doubt, it's all about the mind set. I give no [censored] what I have to use, I'll shove someone's prosthetic leg through an [censored]'s eye if I have to. I just feel that a knife is way down the totem pole as an offensive option. I'll probably bite someone's ear off before I cut them there.

After enough "what would you do" options.. I think the hardback spine to a book is one of the deadliest things around.

Yup, virtually anything can function as a weapon if needed. AND usually the bigger the better! Unless the only BIG option you have is a 500 pound block of concrete. grin

I believe that martial arts training strengthens the mindset. When using a "deadly weapon"...gun, knife, etc. you had better be able to prove that you were in a life-threatening situation. Whatever the outcome, lawyers will ruin your life. smirk

..... so if you eliminate a firearm what else should one carry ?

I should also state that I have seen many people killed and incapacitated (in person)with edged and pointed weapons, I have a great deal of respect for both in a close confines attack/defence. Also understanding how to use a edged/pointed weapon in an offensive manner MUCH better equips you to defeat the same if you are so attacked. It WILL be bloody.
