Nice score and thanks for pics. Those pics with better angles make it look sweeter than the normal ASH1. I'm glad I went for it.

OK, I got my TRASH Tuesday, and haven't had a chance to use it for anything yet, BUT I do have some initial observations.
1. It is noticeably lighter than the BGASH, due to the ASH being a full tang, with the front talon hole and rear lanyard holes all adding to the weight along with heavier handle material. That being said, the BGASH does balance well in my opinion.
2. The TRASH IS blade heavy, and naturally the further you hold the handle toward the rear the more this becomes pronounced. I think to get the same balance "Feel" you need to put your second finger in the choil and your third finger where your hand would normally rest on the handle, which will naturally place your pointer finger forward and will give you a lot greater control.
3. I think the TRASH will be a great End of the World blade, one you can take anywhere and use in confidence that it WILL NOT FAIL. I like it for the lighter weight and indestructible construction.
4. Will I carry this blade, You betcha! Would I pick it for a "Combat Blade"? NOPE, I would pick the S6 for this. It is lighter and has a different blade profile more conducive to the needs of combat Vs Survival.
5. Am I dissing the TRASH, not at all. I wouldn't be to concerned if it were the only knife I had, just trying to give Y'all a NON scientific observation for what's its worth. And of course your mileage may vary. I hope these observations make sense to you.

OK, I've written how much I like the S5. BUT based on (So far) non use, I think the TRASH will probably supplant it as my EOTWAWKI blade. No it will not skin a rabbit or squirrel as well as the S5, but it doesn't need to. just chop off the legs and head, then peel the skin right off them. Now IF it had a distal taper it would also work on the smaller critters but it doesn't and as a true survive anything blade, it probably shouldn't. It is made to get you through anything, to do anything and to keep you alive. This it will do, acting as a shelter builder, shovel, meat and veggie cutter along with an ice cutter and rock breaker. This is what a survival knife should do, and do without damaging the blade to the point of no longer being useful.
IT can be your "There can be only one" knife, and do it well. If you had this knife, paired with say the Swamp Warden, you could rebuild civilization. I think it will prove to be that kind of a knife. It will NOT be perfect at any one task, but WILL work for what you can do with a knife.

Spent some time fondling one of mine last night. I can say though reservation that the three I have received here at home are the sharpest blades I have had right from The Yard (thanks Denny !!!). I took one and, it was shaving sharp right out of the cover. Spend a little time stropping it as I watched TV and then made a nice pile of thinly slices printer pages on the floor (push cutting).
I would have maybe liked to have seen the ricasso and choil shortened a little (maybe 30%) but that is mostly a aesthetic point. All in all its a winner so far.
