Genuine question...
Why do you spend your hard earned money on knives? For me:
1) I enjoy experiencing new designs; 2) I enjoy using them; 3) I like to have the best kit available (thank you Busse); 4) Its sort of a sub-set of my gun hobby.
What about the rest of you? Are you dedicated collectors? Nothing better to do with your cash? Secretly a ninja?

I truly enjoy the craftmanship of quality knives.
May sound odd, but a well built knife makes me feel good.
Also, I have had knives all my life, and it kinda runs in the family. My grandfather had dozens of knives, scattered all over their house. Right from simple folders to bayonets he had collected from German soldiers after WWII.
I only buy knives I can see myself using, when hiking, camping out or as EDC knives. So I too, buy knives which will fit a purpose in my kit.

I've liked knives since grade school. Can't really remember ever being without one.
There's just something about a blade and handle that attracts me. PLUS they are first and foremost a TOOL that can be used for many different things. Plus they are also a weapon, albeit a last ditch weapon, but they're better than nothing. I've been in countries where it is the ONLY "Weapon" you could carry, saved my bacon a couple times.
Other than this, I just like knives, the shape and what you can do with them.

Take my ASH for instance. I really like my ASH, but I think that it it a little to fat. I kind of like a skinnier ASH. I think that my ASH is to big and I wish that it was Skinnier. BUT we work with that we got. I guess it's better to have a Big ASH than a skinny one that you maybe can't work as hard. But I would trade my Fat Ash for a Skinny one in a heart beat.

I have liked knives since I was a kid (maybe seven). I posted here during my JYD run the story of my first knife.
People ask me "Seth why do you like knives so much" and I say "I don't like them that much" or "I don't know".
I like them cause I like them. I suppose I'm looking for that perfect one. I do have an addictive personality so I suppose they might be filling some sort of hole. This has never been an easily answered question.
