I really like to have the right tool for the job, but... I have still hit a screw with a hammer, beat a nail with a wrench, and turned a screw with pliers and so on. Sometimes you only have one tool and many jobs.

The S6 is one of those rare knives that just has the perfect balance and blade design that just works. As cool as the Hook and Guard are, I still prefer the Scrapper 6. It is a great all purpose combat/utility knife. I have a collection of Marine Combat(Mk 2)knives. The S6 has made them obsolete. I have Rangers and Beckers and others, but the S6 is my favorite. I like it even more than my Ontario RAT-7, which is a great knife. The Scrapper 6 rocks.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

The scrapper 6 is a big knife that feels small in your hands. The balance is just...magical <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
As to folks pooping on the idea of prying with a knife...well I would say they don't know what defines a world class "survival" knife.

Like a lot of you guys I have a Badger on order.. I may even get the ani SH. However I doubt either will replace my little S6 as my favourite user blade, the S6's balance of size, weight, ability and toughness is masterful. Once you've got one you'll know you've got the best economy "survival knife" (hate that phrase!) going.
The DF may be bigger but the S6 is better..

The S6 blade is almost an inch longer than the Badger blade but the overall length difference is only about half an inch. The Badger handle is significantly slimmer, well profiled but still second to the grip offered by the Resp C handle on the S6. The Badger is a bit lighter, thinner and came sharper than anything I have owned before. Might be fun to do a comparison.

Went home to help the folks this week and took the S6. What a great all around tool, I wish I had taken pics. I had a lot of wood cutting to do, it limbed stuff fast and was much handier than a machete. I could quickly get a few swings in and drop it back in the sheath I made while keeping the idling chainsaw in the other hand. It also chopped a few large branches quickly when the saw was off and we were splitting with go-devils and wedges. The S6 handled splitting with ease too, provided enough of the tip was exposed to be beat on through the wood.
Next up was masonry. I was resetting some walkway stones for my parents, they were over 150lbs each, I had levers under them, but a couple of times I needed that last 1/4" and was out of levers. One hand slipped the S6 under the stone, a slight jog and the job was done, try that with a Ka-Bar!
Finally a little recreation, my Dad loves to do some knife throwing. The S6 is amazing, the extra weight drives that sucker home, he loved it. Last but not least, I used the S6 to carve a wooden knife for my daughter, and cut a sheath for it too.
If I could have 1 knife, the S6 would be it. I will add, after all that, including a few trips into the dirt and hacking out some roots (had to dig out the well too), it was still just sharp enough to shave hair and had rolled about 2mm by 1mm area of the blade. I have never abused a blade like this before, it was quickly restored with a flat stone.
Badger came today, not sure if I'll keep it. I have a hard time believing it will be better at anything than the S6. A great workout. Dan
