SF means "Short Frame". This is somewhat of a misnomer, because the frame is the same HEIGHT and WIDTH but the DEPTH (backstrap to front strap) is reduced.
The SF frame is SLIGHTLY "shorter" (based upon Glock's description above) than the Gen 4 without an added backstrap. Some people claim they're the same, but the caliper states otherwise.

Based upon the size of my hands, I cannot comfortably handle a regular G20 / G21. I can easily manage a G20SF or G20 Gen 4.

Mike, found this (I didn't know either) With muzzle energy of 550 ft/lbs and a magazine capacity of 15 rounds, this 10mm is your reliable companion on every hunt. 550 FPE is nothing for a 10mm. Underwood's 180gr. generates 676 FPE out of a Glock 20. They're pushing a 180gr at 1300fps...as all 10mm ammo should!

Underwood 165gr Bonded ... 1400fps with 718 ft/lbs
  Underwood 180gr Bonded ... 1300fps with 676 ft/lbs
  Underwood 200gr Hardcast ... 1250fps with 695 ft/lbs
For those bruins that want to eat your shorts.....
  Underwood 220gr Hardcast FN ... 1200fps with 703 ft/lbs

10mm loaded to its potential negates the 357Mag, 41Mag, and 44Mag (at least in my opinion). I'll take 16rds of 700FPE in a lightweight polymer frame (that helps absorb recoil) gun with night sights and a weaponlight over any 6 round revolver.

To put the 10mm's performance in prospective......
The average "LEGENDARY" 45Acp 230gr HP generates around 400FPE....the 10mm average about 700FPE.
Glock 20 is the same size as a Glock 21
  Glock 20 = 16rds of 10mm Glock 21 = 14rds of 45Acp
  10MM FOR THE WIN.

You can have A LOT more energy from a 44Mag, but there is a diminishing return when considering shot-to-shot times. The whole "one shot stop" idea is foolish. I'm shooting until the thing stops trying to eat me.

I was always concerned about the front to back distance as well. That 10mm is a LONG round! IF I remember right, my Federal 124gr +p hst3 ammo is clocking 1200 at the muzzle and 363fpe

The Glock 21 (full size 45Acp) shares the same frame (as does the G21 SF / G20SF and G21 Gen 4 / G20 Gen 4).
The front to rear could be an issue for small hands. I have medium size hands and can handle both the SF and Gen 4 without any problems.
