I was 14 (it was 1968) and I hauled hay for a cent and a half a bale. Pick it up off the ground, stack it on a trailer, take it off the trailer and stack it in the barn. ONE guy baled at sunrise, turned the hay about noon, baled at about 2:30. They were so heavy that the string was literally under your chin and the bale was still on your feet. Anyway, I took at least some of the money from that summer ($125.00) and bought my mom a set of diamond earrings. I think they were a quarter karat. Remember I said it was 1968, things were a tad cheaper back then. See I said I wouldn't embarrass anyone. I mean it's not like I was in the Philippines and chased a er ah well I had been in the shower and much alcohol was involved. I did catch her. I helped a buddy do Hay....once. That is nasty hard work. See you are a sweetie buying your mom earrings. And you were right no embarrassment ...go figure LOL

When I got out of high school I attended a school of higher education where I THOUGHT I would major in biology (I missed getting 3 credit house just by testing by only 3 points. When it came back I KNEW the right answer but marked it wrong) boy was I mad. Anyway, I got to partying to much and got put on academic suspension. I was in the first or second AF ROTC so I joined the Air Force and 20 years later retired. Started working for the Sheriff's office (and became a part time Cop in my home town for about 3 years) and retired 25 years later. There will be NO third retirement. I will just enjoy my vastly increasing fortune (thanks to all you loyal tax payers) until I can no longer say I'll buy it.
