I had purchased a Spyderco Hossom fixed blade and was going to buy a bigger one.
I was reading a review and someone said "Its OK, but its not gonna chop like a Scrap Yard Dog Father"
So I googled came to this site loved the look of the DF and then tried to purchase one...and I was introduced to the Bussekin sales plan...

I was able to buy the Regulators w/ sheath shortly thereafter. Then I went to the Swamp and Purchased A RMD, a HRLM and a Warden...without sheaths (SMH)

I loved the blades and the community, especially the outdoor forum at the Swamp. Carl, Ian, Warren and Architect taught me soooooo much there.

Just stumbled across it some how. Well actually It wasn't the Yard. My FIRST Bussekin was an Assault Shaker that Patty bought for me. I was bidding on it on ebay and had to go to bed so I could get back up in about 5 hours to go to work at midnight. I told her how much I was willing to go. When I woke up she said we won it and she was SO proud. She paid $125.00! Now mind you this was back about 2007. After I got it I stayed on the Swamp for a while then finally tried the Yard. Been here ever since.

That is cool. Please explain was $125.00 more or less than they were originally going for?

Haha, quite a bit more than they sold for. She and some guy gut into a bidding war. I'm not sure that the guy wasn't secretly working for Jerry and ran the price up! smile wink

I first heard of Busse via Ron Hood's survival video (VHS), then saw a few Busse knives advertised in a Shomer-Tec catalog. My first Bussekin was a Battle Rat followed by a Camp Tramp from the Swamp. When Jerry first announced the coming of Scrap Yard I was intrigued and thought I would check them out. I won the "Name the Knife" contest with the DogFather and later on Dan asked me to be a Moderator. When Dan inducted me at the Blade Show he bestowed the title of Leader of The Pack on me.
I have been so "consumed" by the Yard that I even got a likeness of the Scrap Yard Challenge Coin tattooed on my arm! smile

Now that is a story, that is fantastic. So you were here since the beginning. And I'm sure your coin is #1 too right, or is that Dan?

Yes, my Challenge Coin reads 001, and the General's (my wife) coin is 100, reverse of mine. Dan and the Busse folks had number 000 coins I believe.

I was a member of the Becker Knives forum and a member there introduced me to Yard knives in 2013. My first knife was the 411. My best all around knife.

I am a member on Canadiangunnutz and a member here (And there) named Unsub told me about the sight.
I was able to get an original dumpster mutt when it was released.
Hung around for a bit and like the company.
I was on the swamprat forum for a while but it just never felt like home (so to speak)
I used to be on a lot of forums, I am hardly on any now
