Good morning Yard. A cold front moved through and really dropped the temps.

Yesterday it was 85. Temps started dropping and we got HAIL! Mostly small stuff about pea size or a tad larger. But we had a few that was about the size of a half dollar!

64 here today and supposed to be in the mid 40s tonight. Later on this week or EARLY next week they are saying we will have a low one night of about 36. Oh did I mention it is supposed to NOT get out of the mid 60s for about 4 or 5 days. And THIS after a couple days of temps in the 80s!

The General and I are such home-bodies here in rural America that we have hardly noticed much difference to us.

Just picked up stuff for a few projects. I'm going to rebuild a cast-iron bench that we have. I picked up some Douglas Fir to rebuild the seat and frame for the back. I also picked up some topsoil manure and peat for a raised garden bed. The kid and I are going to see if we can grow potatoes in 5 gallon buckets. The only thing I forgot was bone meal.

If that doesn't work, try tomatoes.

M/B, the buckets WILL work, and we even grew some in large plastic bags.. Tomatoes will do well also.

My wife tried it one year and got 3 tiny potatoes. I'm going to try and see if I can do a bit better. I looked up a few tutorials and it seems easy enough. Drain holes and mix the right soil and water. I can probably do that.
I am going to try and up our container garden this year. I'm going to try and use my deck railings for Tomatoes and use the raised bed for squash and zucchini etc. I will see how it goes. My green thumb is a really light green. I just want to see what I can do in containers. I don't want to rebuild the garden bed when I'm planning on moving in a year or so. Same with Chickens.
