Good evening folks. We stopped by the store today; it was depressing to see the prices jacked up and supplies so low.

The Stepson works for the UP Railroad. He said that even they are not hauling as much as they were.

With all the problems facing the farmers and ranchers, having to dump milk, slaughter livestock, etc. it seems that food items should be plentiful and stores well stocked. The government should buy any excess and use it for foreign aid after making sure America's food pantries are full. To deliberately destroy food is a waste bordering on criminal!

Tom, I agree with you. Did you know that at restaurants if they have any cooked food left at the end of the day they have to throw it out. Not even allowed for the owners or employees to take any of it home with them! Now THAT's wasteful. Thousands of homeless or impoverished people could be fed, well, on the food the government MAKES places throw away.

Many years ago one of my cousins worked at a KFC, who didn't pay well. The late crew always made sure there was chicken left at the end of the shift to offset the poor pay. For restaurants to throw away food instead of giving leftovers to needy folks is just crazy.

Well You and I both know that IF allowed, the workers do take home some of the left over food. I applaud the businesses that allow their employees to do this. Oh and did you know, at least in Missouri, IF the employees are allowed a free meal that the state demands that be included in the "pay package" and the cost of the meals are considered INCOME and is taxable!

I was watching the news tonight. They interviewed someone from the beef council and they say demand is up but supply is the same. Currently 30% demand over the norm with a high of 70%. At least locally.

The beef isn't much good to the consumers until the packing/processing houses are up and running again. All part of the food chain.

The two brothers that run our local Food Giant (just changed from a Town and Country) says folks are starting to panic buy meat again, just like they did when this whole contrived (?) panic started. Don't get me wrong, this Covid is bad, but I believe that the Medias continued Gloom and Doom is making it appear MUCH worse than it is, at least now.
