Afternoon! I'm not really doing anything productive or entertaining. The most I have accomplished is drinking coffee and setting up a small safe to keep my work gear away from curious hands.

LOL, No really a small safe. It is designed for the floor of a closet or to mount on a wall by the studs. Only about 40lbs. I put it on a table. I won't buy another real safe until I move. Those things are way too heavy to move cross country.

A safe is a great idea especially if you have youngsters around. Fortunately we don't so I keep several items close at hand.

I have a teen at home. So I keep my gear locked up. I have a smaller one in my bedroom since I always have one handy. Especially with everything going on right now.

I hear ya MB. Last night we kept hearing a noise like something hitting the outside of the house. After about the 3rd time I grabbed my house pistol (Beretta PX4 Storm/W 20 round mag and Streamlight tlr or trl light and went outside. Funny how my academy training kicked back in and each time I went around a corner I "Sliced the pie" and checked around the vehicles before I turned my back on them and I even shined the light up in a large tree next to the house. Nothing, nada. Both out buildings were clear as well. Only thing I could figure out is maybe a couple rabbits playing around (saw them in front of the garage door) maybe jumped up and banged into the door. Needless to say I slept in the recliner the rest of the night with the pistol next to me.

Good idea. When I was a tenager my Dad kept the rifles for his American Legion Post in our basement; M1 Garands and Remiongton .22 target rifles. He never worried about me as I went shooting with them occasionally and would help clean the rifles when done. I spent my BEST time shooting with my Grandfather though; he would work my butt off during the summer but as a reward we would practice shooting. Even when he was old my Grandfather was an excellent shot.

MY Paternal Grandfather taught me to shoot on an old single shot Iver Johnson 20ga. I couldn't even [censored] the hammer without using both thumbs. First he took out all the pellets and put some cloth in it and closed it back up. After a couple or three of those it was bird shot and the rest as they say is history. I really enjoyed running around the hills with "My" little 20ga.

The kid likes to shoot. But I don't trust most of her friends for squat. We are much older than most of her friend's parents. A whole different set of values. Best to keep them inaccessible.
I have gotten lazy or more tech savvy. I have a camera system. Bumps in the night get investigated by camera and motion sensor lights now. LOL, I can check from the recliner.

I like them a lot. I will be taking them to my next place. Hardwired cameras are great. You find interesting critters running around at night.

BUT, we do have a feisty little 6 pound Yorkie that NOTHING gets past. I guess she's the alarm and I'm supposed to be the hammer.
