I picked mine up new on the exchange over at B.F. a few months ago. 2019 version. It's a very useful knife, I really like how thin it is, and the no finger choil is nice. It's an inch or so longer than I usually go for, but it hasn't gotten in the way. Seems like a 4" version would be popular (sorta like the 411, but thinner and a hair shorter).
I never see them getting talked about and they come up for sale pretty regular. I've already picked up a spare one (sage on sage) and if the right one came around with Brown Mudders, I probably would not be able to resist that one either. Nate

That makes two of us, I also appreciate the fine lines and timeless, classical elegance of the Mud Mutt.

It is nice. Thinner than the 411 and in some cases that can be better. But in a survival situation I want a little thicker blade. That is where the 411 and the S5 comes in, at least for me. But alas, BUT he would need to keep the original choir. It just draws your finger backwards toward the handle making sure you don’t let it slide up onto the blade.

Yeah I wouldn't necessarily choose it for my "ONE" knife, But paring it with a hatchet or big knife would be a good combo.

In my above post I was talking about the Muppy. Dan needs to come out with one again but with a 4.5 inch total length blade of which 4 inches is the actual cutting edge. And he needs to keep the same kind of choil.

That'd be a fine knife. I don't love finger choils but I do like a small sharpening choil/notch. I can work around a finger choil though on a small or medium sized knife and fine with them on big ones.

Yes, that's just Randy's "old age" way of speaking.

Right on, I've only seen picture's of that one. Probably not many of those out in the wild.

Looks like the Mud Puppy was a blade show exclusive, according to the sticky up above. Looks like a very handy little thing.
"In my above post I was talking about the Muppy. Dan needs to come out with one again but with a 4.5 inch total length blade of which 4 inches is the actual cutting edge. And he needs to keep the same kind of choil."
After looking at it again in the "Specs" thread, That'd be a very useful knife.
