Hey! It slices, it dices, (yeah it does hurt) it carves and cuts. This is pretty much a WS-1020 with a slightly dropped point, but boy does that make a difference. Dan was smart designing two very similar, yet completely different blades. IF I could only pick one for “outdoors use” it would be the 621. It should patina (my favorite finish) quite nicely.
To me, the WS is more of a skinner/slicer meat prep kind of blade. The 621 seems to be more of bushcraft/all around blade, able to do most anything you would need a knife for. As far as prying with it, it’ll probably hold up fairly well to some LIGHT prying, but I wouldn’t want to try and pry open a door with it. (That’s what the 311 is for).
