The G10 seems, well, blacker than the micarta to me. Black micarta always looks grey to my eyes.

Only Busse micarta seems to be grey when it should be black. I think it has to do with the very rough texture they use and because it's canvas micarta(I think).
G10 and micarta are really nice to work with. If you want some black AK grips you could buy a chunk of G10 and make some yourself.

I've heard G-10 is nasty to work with(glass fibers in the lungs) and I have no business around power tools anyways.
I have a couple Bark River Northwind swords and they have black micarta handles that are as black as the G-10's.
I didn't buy the black AK because the handles looked wrong, so I got the urban grey and it matches the handles just fine.
