LOL, as cryprtic as this is.

I'm guessing the DOD thing.?

Yeah that's pretty sketchy. I found the document online. It's disturbing and not just for the reason most people are upset about it.

It appears that since 2004 FEMA has been using the Waffle House index to gauge the severity of a storm.

No joke, Y’all should see this. (And I have heard this mentioned a couple other times in years past).

The thing that concerns me is that they are authorizing Local Governments (law enforcement) to use Defense Intelligence agency personnel and assets. It violates posse comatatis. That and it allows use of Force against normal people in the U.S. It was changed on September 27 of this year. A lot of people that are smarter than me are concerned by it.

I can think of one innocuous reason they might do that. but I have not got the depth or breadth of knowledge to prove or disprove it. It could be used to have military assets to protect someone in concert with the Secret Service.

Otherwise, it's just kind of suspicious and the public concern is a testament to how badly people are distrustful of what our government has seemingly become. Plus election year fears etc.

Here is a link to the document everyone is concerned about.

Ok, thanks. But doesn’t the Insurrection Act permit the usage of the military by the President to suppress an insurrection or domestic violence if the local authorities are unable to do so? This would bypass the Posse Comitatus Act.

Right now the government will do whatever it wants, regardless of the Constitution. Also, look how the democraps want to change the Supreme Court, which was established as part of the "checks and balances" of our government. And I will NEVER forget Bill Clinton saying he would run again if it wasn't for "that damned Constitution". And Hillary Clinton and others want to establish a limit on free speech as guaranteed by the First Amendment.

I realize that this is a knife forum and we should not be discussing politics, but if the election doesn't go the right way we could lose many of the freedoms and things we currently enjoy.

Ray,

There are definitely legitimate reasons for the Military to be conducting business CONUS. They are allowing exigent circumstances that units can do this for 72 hours before seeking approval. It's the fact that they are making a blanket policy that makes me raise an eyebrow. I'm not saying it is or isn't nefarious. I don't have any info to say either way. It is unusual. I worked in this sphere for decades and they were always very careful about violating posse comatatis. Probably not doing things that they could have done.

It just seems off. But that may be in part due to occurrences from the past few years.

I equate it to driving into my neighborhood and seeing someone who doesn't live there acting oddly and just being out of place. They aren't doing anything illegal but it's out of the norm and bears keeping an eye out on what else is happening.

Ray, one thing many people (yes, liberals/progressives I believe are most gullible to this) think that if “something”, oh say THE CONSTITUTION says the government can not do something then the government will not do it. THAT IS A LIE! The government will do anything “It” deems necessary to achieve its goals. Namely keeping itself in power/control, meaning the so-called Elite.

When a certain side thinks their thoughts/beliefs are the only ones that count, then “We have a problem Houston”. And we are there with the so-called progressive/liberal/woke mindset.

Tom said this is a knife site. Yes it is, but we must be open to discussion of things that could change our country in ways many of us do not even realize.
