Search evil bay for completed auctions. A Dumpster Mutt sold for $280!!!
Man, who needs Busse Combat knives when Scrapyards are showing that kinda return and to think that I sold three of the five I bought at cost. Oh the humanity. Un-real...there goes the Performance-to-Price Ratio out the window Dan That is why you have to stay on top of things here at the Yard and get em when they are released! Yea that!!!

I think you are missing the detail of his post. It looks like he just sold the barrel, not a barrel and reciever. Nope I understood that. A shotgun barrel by itself under 18" requires paperwork as class 3.
Be prepared.......It is more than a motto it is a way of life.

A shotgun barrel by itself under 18" requires paperwork as class 3. Interesting, I was under the impression that you could possess a barrel <18" as long as you did not posses a shotgun receiver. I was not aware that posessing a barrel alone in and of itself would go against ATF regs. You can buy short barreled AR uppers from just about any shop and they are not a registered weapon by themselves. As long as one does not posses an AR reciever at the same time, there are no ATF regs that are being violated that I am aware of. Maybe shotguns are treated differently although I don't think they are or I could just be misinformed. The only SBR I have is a registered AMD65 so I don't have that much experience with class 3 stuff.

Nope I understood that. A shotgun barrel by itself under 18" requires paperwork as class 3. That's funny. It's just a piece of pipe. In Canada, the receiver is the controlled part of the gun. Of course, barrel length plays a role in determining if the over all firearm is restricted or non-restricted, but a barrel by itself is not a controlled or restricted item and can be bought or sold by anyone. I wonder how this would be classified in the US? Up here it's not restricted: Don't know that I'd care to shoot it. Made for prospectors and trappers, for bear defense. -Cam.

Well first I should have said "I think" it is class 3 (maybe it is another class or name). What I meant was I understood that the original poster sold just the barrel. My only experience with this is a close friend is a local PD firearm instructor and he said the PD had to get Fed paperwork before they could buy the 14" barrels they needed to fit shotguns in the new crusier racks they had (18" was too long). Perhaps I indicated I knew more than I do. I have never read the laws except state law which says you cannot have a under 18" barrel and receiver as you said. I think my second post came across too strong, maybe I am wrong about this.

That would break your wrist!!!! Fella might only get 1 shot off with that! In Michigan, a buddy of mine has an AK on a folding stock and when folded, it measures within the states Concealed pistol size regulation....so he can carry an AK as a Concealed Pistol!? How stupid is that.
